Matt Reeves and Jacob Estes To Write and Direct Frankenstein Film for Summit Entertainment

It's been reported by Deadline that there are a shit load of Frankenstein films in development. Now Summit Entertainment has taken the lead in this race by bringing in Let Me In
director Matt Reeves to direct This Dark Endevor with Jacob Estes writing the script. The film
is based on the novel This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein
written by Kenneth Oppel. The novel will be published this summer and is slated to be the first of a series.

The novel follows Frankenstein's twin Konrad who is gravely ill. His brother seeks out a mysterious old alchemist to helmp him produce the Elixir of Life, a serum that will bestow the gift of perpetual health. Frankenstein sets out on a dangerous mission to find the elusive contents of the elixir accompanied by his best friend Elizabeth.

I'll be reading the novel prior to the film, as I do 99.9% of the time, to see if this is something that I either want to see brought to the big screen and/or think CAN be brought to the screen. More info as it becomes available.
