The Wolverine Needs A Director

The two month search for a director to replace the departed (as in left the project) Darren Aronofsky continues. Twentieth Century Fox has released (through Variety) a shortlist of directors currently competing for the job. They include Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity (Widescreen Extended Edition)) Antoine Furqua (Training Day [Blu-ray]) Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) Mark Romanek, Gavin O'Connor (Pride and Glory) James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma [Blu-ray]) and Gary Shore.

Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects [Blu-ray]) and will focus on Logan's time in Japan. The film was supposed to film on location in Japan, but that's a loose plan now due to the earthquake and tsunamis tragedy which hit Japan earlier this year. There's no release date set for the film, but the best bet right now is 2013.

This storyline sounds much more like the original 4 part limited series which made me love this character back in the '80's. I'm hoping it's much more like that than the last film was. We shall see!
